NBA 2K25 Conceptual UI Interfaces

Conceptual UI interfaces created for NBA 2K25. Follow below to see my take on what NBA2K could do with their upcoming game. Side-note, I’m a Playstation guy, so all concepts are created for the PS5.

NBA 2K25 Roster Viewer UI Concept

With this Roster Viewer UI concept I wanted to retain the feel of an NBA 2K game, using aspects and elements from previous years, while also creating something unique that utilizes trending design elements. No previous NBA2K has used a basketball card for its player headshot, and with the re-rise of trading cards again I thought this was fitting. Obviously the cards need to be simple so they can be easily repeatable from team to team, era to era. That being said, there are three different styles of teams represented in NBA2K: current teams, classic teams, and all-time teams. With this in mind I wanted to give each style of card its own touch, representative of the team variation. As you can see below, the current teams (represented by Anthony Edwards of MIN) uses a clean, modern design that would fit in any 2024-25 pack of cards. While classic (represented by 2000-01 Kobe Bryant) showcases a card based on 70s and 80s basketball cards with an off-white card base, thin frame, and traditional printing techniques you’d see on these cards like half-tones. Lastly, the all-time teams (represented by Michael Jordan of the All-Time Bulls) shows a gold-framed card with gold overlays and gemstones throughout, to achieve a sense that this player was (obviously) really fucking good at basketball.

Cards aside, I wanted the rest of the layout to not only consider the player, but the team as well. This is also something not seen on the Roster Viewer screen in years. I would know, I’ve played every NBA2K since 2010. I’ve taken some space at the top of the layout to showcase the team logo, overall attributes, coach, record/rings, and the team’s starting five.

My goal here was to create something unique, trendy, and user-friendly. When compared to prior NBA2K iterations, I believe I hit each target quite well. Only thing I’d love to see is some movement, but we’ll leave that for the animation team.
